ABOUT US

SaWa is our famously award-winning sister location, “Syun Izakaya.” The name “SaWa” is an amalgam of “Sa” or “桜・さ” which means “Sakura” or “cherry blossom,” – the national flower of Japan – and “Wa” or “和・わ” which means “peace” or “harmony.” Cherry blossoms are treasured in Japan and are a symbol of renewal and an acknowledgement for our time existing within the delicate nature of life. We are here to bring peace, harmony and an appreciation for this understanding of our time here and are proud to have you join us for amazing food and drink!

All of our sauces and dishes are prepared and made in-house from scratch!

Like Syun, we focus on first class sushi, sashimi and an expansive variety of famous imported sakes. We graciously source our seafood from local, Alaskan, and Scandinavian distributors.

Unique to SaWa is our Donburi menu.

Donburi is a Japanese dish that is considered a staple in the traditional and culture of Japan. A variety of cooked or uncooked ingredients are part of donburi, but most importantly it is to be served over a bed of rice. An example of this is “Kaisendon” which includes fresh seafood over a bed of rice and a type of donburi that Hokkaido is well known for. Donburi can be served in many ways, this includes deep fried pork, grilled beef, teriyaki chicken, steak, and more.

SaWa is committed to supporting local growers, ranchers and organic agriculture. The fish we serve is healthy, eco-friendly and sustainable certified by the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council.)

Life is love! Thank you for visiting SaWa’s Donburi!
